Café on Nowy Świat Street in Warsaw

Description

This café interior design in Warsaw, for the Cavarious chain on Nowy Świat Street, fits the brand’s house concept into an exceptional setting. The café occupies the former Kossakowski Palace, which housed the Coloseum cinema, while its courtyard was home to Warsaw’s first indoor ice rink, the Palais de Glace. The design reads these historical layers and brings them to the surface: ceilings were exposed, a historic barred window previously hidden behind plasterboard was uncovered, and a massive concrete column, rather than being boxed in, became a fully fledged element of the interior. The signature accent is a wall with a mural washed over in Cavarious’s turquoise brand colour, fronted by a large wooden table in the central room. The interior combines warm timber, varied upholstery on low armchairs, live plants in tall planters, black painted steel and exposed services, tied together by warm directional lighting and black-framed floor lamps. The chain’s three standard zones (comfort, standard and express) are mixed in one venue, and the layout deliberately creates many semi-private spaces offering guests intimacy. The added winter terrace is arranged as a green arbour.
