Description

The housing estate in Dębica, on Ratuszowa Street, comprises three multi-family buildings with 201 flats in total. The client is MDR Dębica. The buildings form a perimeter block, creating a street frontage and a sheltered recreational courtyard for residents, set back from car traffic. The architecture is based on simple box-like volumes with distinctive recessed, covered entrances picked out in a different render colour — they give rhythm to the long facades and aid orientation on the estate. The facades are white, with the recesses and reveals in quartz render in shades of grey. The rhythm of windows, balconies and French windows varies with flat type, so the repetitive structure does not feel monotonous. Ground-floor flats are accessible to people with disabilities, and most have small private gardens. The roofs are flat and partly green, increasing the share of permeable, planted surface and improving the courtyard microclimate. Building services were chosen with running costs in mind, such as mechanical extract ventilation with humidity-controlled window vents, or LED lighting with motion sensors in common areas.
